A. Hays Town Exhibit Makes Its Home in the Dean’s Gallery
The Celebrating A. Hays Town exhibit has made its way from the Grand Contemporary Art Gallery in downtown Lafayette to the Dean’s Gallery, Fletcher Hall Room 202. The exhibit will remain open to the public in the Dean’s Gallery through the summer with hours from 8am-5pm. A. Hays Town was posthumously honored during this year’s SPARK Festival of the Arts that took place March 22-27. The Celebrating A. College of the Arts Announces its Spring 2010 Dean’s Scholars
Submitted April 28, 2010: The College of the Arts recently announced its spring 2010 Dean’s Scholars. They were chosen from each of the four departments within the College of the Arts. This semester’s scholars are: David Huynh, Department of Performing Arts; Desiree Johnson, School of Architecture and Design; Andrew Smith, School of Music; and Thomas Deaton, Department of Visual Arts. Each of the scholars have outstanding records and they have each exhibited dedication to the college as well as to his or her art form. Getting to know Lori Debaillon Crain
While the week preceding the beginning of classes may have been a peaceful time for some, it was a non-stop flurry meetings and questions for Lori Debaillon Crain, the Assistant Dean of the College of the Arts. Lori’s job description cannot be easily fit into one box. As director of student services of the college, she answers scheduling questions, does advisory training, checks degree plans, advises transfer students, and listens to academic appeals. The College of the Arts recently announced its 2009 Dean’s Scholars. They were chosen from each of the four departments within the College of the Arts. ULL Industrial Design Students Awarded in National Competition
ULL second year industrial design students Jacques Dugal and Keaton Smith were recently awarded a Merit Award in Chair Affair 2009, a prestigious national design competition. Their design Parshe Desca, or parchment desk was selected as one of 12 finalists among more than 171 entries in the competition which is sponsored by the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF).
